A private full day in Taipei with your own guide and chauffeur: the National Palace Museum’s imperial collection, the tea merchants and herb shops of Dadaocheng, and the hot-spring valley of Beitou, ending at sunset beneath Taipei 101. Paced around you, with time to linger where you like.
Taipei rewards travellers who slow down. The city’s great treasures are not its skyline but its layers: a museum holding much of the Chinese imperial collection, a 19th-century trading district where tea is still weighed by hand, and a valley of volcanic springs 30 minutes from downtown.
Your guide plans the museum visit around the quietest galleries and the pieces that matter to you, from Song dynasty porcelain to the famous Jadeite Cabbage when it is on display. After lunch, Dadaocheng’s brick shophouses lead you to a family tea merchant for a tasting of Taiwanese oolongs.
In the late afternoon the car climbs to Beitou, where steam drifts from Thermal Valley and the Japanese-era Hot Spring Museum recalls the district’s spa history. We finish with the city lights coming on around Taipei 101, or a reservation for dinner if you would like one.
